A Wee poem about Decisions

There is an image that is doing the rounds that state, it was not the SNP that... and then lists all the BAD decisions made on Scotland's behalf by the Union. I have wanted for a while to commit this to prose and finally finished the poem today.

(decsions on) On our Behalf

They sold our oil, they sold our gas,

The wealth beneath us, gone so fast.

Our fields of gold, our winds that blow,

All stripped away for those below.

Decisions made without our say,

Our riches squandered, shipped away.

They crushed the steel, they shut the mines,

They silenced hope in hard-won times.

The unions broken, voices stilled,

Our industries left unfulfilled.

No oil fund built to see us through,

No vision shared for what we’d do.

Our power sold, our railways gone,

The profits sung in a foreign song.

The homes they sold, the debts they piled,

The future stolen from every child.

And now they dare to point the blame,

As if devolution shares their shame.

The cost of learning now a debt,

A price for knowledge they have set.

The PFI chains that bind our schools,

A lesson taught by Westminster’s rules.

The NHS they’d privatize,

A union’s greed, a nation’s cries.

Illegal wars that were not ours,

Our voices lost in foreign powers.

Gold reserves they sold for naught,

Our pensions raided, trust distraught.

Each act, a hammer on our land,

Each choice made by another’s hand.

it wasn’t Scotland’s voice that chose,

To bear these scars, to feel these woes.

It wasn’t those who stand for here,

Who sowed the seeds of loss and fear.

It’s time to rise, to take the reign,

To end the Union’s crippling chain.

For every choice they made for us,

Was driven by another’s lust.

But Scotland’s voice is clear and true,

Our future’s ours, it’s overdue.

No blame for those who fight our fight,

The Union wronged us make it right.
